A balcony you can use, not just photograph
Start with the door, walking space, and your habits before choosing furniture.
A table, two chairs, and several plants can fill a balcony before anyone steps outside to enjoy it. Planning around use helps prevent it becoming an outdoor storage room.
Choose one main activity
Would you like to have coffee, read, or care for a few plants? Pick a regular activity and reserve room for it. A long list of uses often leads to too many objects.
Check how the door opens and which walkway must remain clear. Test furniture sizes with removable markings only on surfaces that will not be damaged.
Understand the conditions
Notice when sunlight reaches the balcony and how exposed it is to wind and rain. Check building rules and suitable capacity before adding heavy items, enclosures, or installations. Do not use the railing as an improvised support or place objects where they could fall.

Consider where cushions will be stored and how you will clean the floor without moving a whole furniture collection. Choose pieces you can handle comfortably.
